Where on the web can I look for more?

The sites listed on this page should contain resources, lesson plans or work-sheets that could be of some use to English Language teachers. Another page lists a few sites that students might find entertaining, educational or something in between those two extremes. This can be reached by clicking the link at the bottom of the page.

    Web Site for both teachers and students. Contains "teacher zone" and "student zone". Includes a guide to EFL schools in Britain

  • ESL for Kids
    Web site with resources for teachers with young learners

  • Dave's ESL Cafe
    Comprehensive web site for teachers and students. Contains a large resource area (called idea cookbook), links, students' e-mail connection page, and a book shop operated in conjunction with Amazon Books.

  • English-to-go.com
    Operating in conjunction with the Reuters News Agency, this site offers photocopiable lesson plans based on News Stories. To use the site you need to become a member and there are different monthly membership rates of $12.50, $7.50, and a free membership which offers one free instant lesson per week. Subscriptions can be paid by monthly credit card or by US dollar cheque / telegraphic transfer if you pay by the year.

    Large interesting site with teaching materials, discussion forums, and a students' area

  • Activities That Work
    A collection of teaching activities - aimed at teachers of children. This "no nonsense" site has a huge amount of material of various kinds

  • EFL Club
    Very professional-looking site with a variety of resources in Adobe Acrobat format. Claims that resources have all been tried and tested in classroom. Also includes fairy stories, quizzes, games, recordings of songs, and movie trailers (last two not recommended for slow internet connections)

  • EFL Tasks
    Smart looking site with range of activities available in three level categories. Includes teacher's instructions and work-sheets - all downloads organized into "pre-activity", "activity" and "post activity". Seems to have a slight emphasis on beginners

  • Language Project.co.uk
    Site belonging to The Language Project, a small friendly school in Bristol, UK. This site has a section with interactive grammar and vocabulary questions, which you should be able to use with your students. The site also includes details of Trinity Certificate and Trinity Diploma courses which are run at various times of the year - and come highly recommended.

  • Aardvark's English Forum
    Portal-style site including interactive exercises, teachers section, students section, good school guide, dictionary links and more besides.

  • The Internet TESL Journal
    Contains articles, research Papers, lesson Plans, classroom handouts, teaching ideas and links to other sites

  • Mark's ESL World
    Comprehensive EFL site with information on jobs in various countries, book store, an idiom-of-the-day feature, quizzes and hundreds of links to jobs and other EFL sites.

  • Tefl.net
    Site for English teachers including resources, jobs, lesson plans, advice about teacher training and a "workshop area" providing practical guidance on specific teaching techniques

  • Tefl Farm
    Describes itself (quite accurately) as "The Language Fun Farm". Bright, colourful site for teachers, thoroughly milking all possible farmyard metaphors. Includes reviews, interviews with EFL celebrities , articles and a "teaching children" section

  • Randall's ESL Cyber Listening Lab
    Site with huge selection of listening extracts and accompanying interactive questions. Requires Real Player to operate. Works pretty effectively on a slow 28kbps modem. Uses American pronunciation

  • eViews
    Site offering listening exercises for advanced English students. Payment is by a monthly subscription (10 Euros for students and 12 Euros for teachers). Exercises include a glossary and lesson plan for teachers along with the audio recording in an MP3 format. Audio quality is good but downloads may take ten minutes or more if you have a dial-up modem. A free example is offered on the site.

  • WWW.EduFind.com's Grammar Reference Section
    Includes a large number of free grammar explanations plus the chance to purchase a fuller desk-top version

  • Frankie's ESL Worksheets
    Described as "Practical, ready-to-use by a working teacher". Includes large range of items in Reading / Writing Literature categories.

  • Business English Links for ESL
    Site including links to lesson resources, resources for students, a mock job interview, and business English exercises.

  • ESL Flow.com
    Large collection of English teaching work-sheets organized into different levels and into different topic areas.

  • English Teacher's Resource Page
    A loose collection of lesson ideas, work-sheets, and more. Has a certain bias towards TOEFL.
